Symptom
Accessing Live Data Connections of an SAC tenant fails because of insufficient permissions.
In current AO versions, the messages below are displayed:
----------------------------------------------
Analysis Office currently is not able to establish a connection.:
Failed connecting to '...': The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized.
Server response:{"status":401,"message":"HTTP 401 Unauthorized"}
----------------------------------------------
After installing the version mentioned in SAP Note 3307594, the warning below is displayed instead:
----------------------------------------------
[7c4e-c8f9-ae] Couldn't access Live Data Connections because of insufficient permissions. Please see SAP Note 3309711 for further details. (ID-114228):
----------------------------------------------
Environment
SAP Analysis for Microsoft Office
Cause
The user has insufficient permissions.
Resolution
-
If the user should not be able to access Live Data Connections, this warning message can be avoided by turning off the AO functionality "Enable Live Data Connections" for the specific SAC tenant:
-
If the user should have access to the Live Data Connections, the SAC tenant administrator needs to ensure that the user is assigned to a role that has the "Read" permission for "Connection". To check if a role has the required permission:
-
Log on to the SAC tenant with an administrator account;
-
Go to Security -> Roles;
-
Select the role which the affected user has;
- Check if the role is assigned to the Read permission of Connection:
