Symptom

You're trying to add a new assignment interval for a fixed asset, however, the following error is displayed

New time interval must start after last cost posting date DD.MM.YYYY

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Fixed Assets Work Center.
  2. Go to the Fixed Assets view.
  3. Search for the required fixed asset.
  4. Click on Edit.
  5. Go to master data tab > Basic data > All Assignments Interval >Add row > Enter the new date
  6. Message error: New time interval must start after last cost posting date DD.MM.YYYY

Cause

You have already posted a Cost posting for the respective fixed asset, for example: Depreciation run.

Resolution

This is the system expected behavior.

You can check if there is a Journal entry already posted for the fixed asset as follows:

  1. Go to the Fixed Assets Work Center.
  2. Go to the Fixed Assets view.
  3. Search for the required fixed asset and open it.
  4. Click on View All.
  5. Go to Values tab > Journal subtab.

To solve the issue, the start date of the new Assignment Intervals must be on or after the last cost posting date.
