3310582 - Difference between values of the 'Flexible Requesting Allowed' field while creating an absence

Symptom

You have set the value of the field 'Flexible Requesting Allowed' to 'Yes' on Time Type and Work Schedule level but couldn't identify what it actually does after reading the the Guide article Time Type | SAP Help Portal.

Resolution

  • If the value of Flexible requesting is set to 'Yes', employees can enter a booking amount that varies from the planned working time in the Work Schedule. This means that, if they submit a value higher than the planned working hours (lets say, 8h), the system will allow it if they have enough balance for it to a maximum of 24h per day - if you try to submit more than 24h, the error 'Please enter a booking quantity that is greater than 0 and smaller than or equal to 24.0' will be thrown.

  • If the value is set to 'No', the requesting quantities are derived from the working hours defined in the Work Schedule, which means that they won't be able to request more than 8h, as the value will be 'capped' in a dropdown list.
