Symptom
After changing the field in which the merit is based the value of the merit percentage was updated automatically by the system and the merit amount remained the same.
To check in which field the merit is based, you can download the XML file of the template and search for the tag:
<merit-calc basedOn="FIELDNAME"></merit-calc>
Example:
The most common configuration for the merit standard field is to be based on the standard Current Salary field.

Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Compensation
Cause
This is expected behavior from the system.
Resolution
The merit amount is based in the following calculation:
Merit amount = Merit % * Field in which merit is based.
For example:
"If you have a current salary of USD 100 and a merit amount equal to USD 10, then you have Merit % equal to 10%.
If that salary is changed to USD 200 and you have merit amount equal to USD 100, then you will have a new merit % equal to 5%."
The system updates automatically the merit % in order to keep the same value in the merit amount.
