3311672 - Report data is displayed in a different language than the one you expected

Symptom

You run a report and the output file (e.g: PDF file) that is generated is in English language, however you expect the data is displayed/printed in a different language.

E.g.: The content of the report is displayed in English but, you expect the content to be displayed in, Spanish language.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Cause

The report was originally executed and the output file was created when the user was logged in the system using English Language.

Resolution

  • If you create a run for the Report while logged in the system using English language, all the data generated by this report will be in English and it will be persisted in the same language in the system. So, whenever this report is opened it's data (text, PDF) will always be in English.

  • If you create a new run for the Report while logged in the system using a different language (e.g.: Spanish), all the data generated by this report will be in Spanish and it will be persisted in the same language in the system. So, whenever this report is opened it's data (text, PDF) will always be in Spanish.

  • If during the execution of the report, you use the "Schedule" or "Schedule and Print" option, the system will use the language set for the user, in this case, you need to check the language that is set under the user attributes.

    1. Go to the Application and User Management work center.
    2. Go to the User and Access Management view.
    3. Go to the Business Users subview.
    4. Find the relevant Business User ID.
    5. Click on the Edit button.
    6. Select the Attributes option.
    7. Under Language box display the drop-down menu.
    8. Select the desired language.
    9. Click on the Save button.
