3312292 - Job Description Manager Warning: Name exceeds the maximum length allowed of 120 characters.

Symptom

When creating a behavior via Manage Competencies, entering a behavior name results in an error message:

Warning: Name exceeds the maximum length allowed of 120 characters.

"Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental."

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Login to system
  2. Admin Center > Company Settings > Manage Competencies
  3. Select a competency library
  4. Select a competency
  5. Select the Assigned to Behaviors tab > Add New Behavior
  6. Enter Behavior Name > Receive error message

Expected behavior

Resolution

There is a limit of 120 characters for the behavior name field in Job Description Manager. To bypass this limitation, add the behaviors through Families & Roles:

  1. Login to system
  2. Admin Center > Managing Competencies and Skills > Families and Roles
  3. Select a family
  4. Select a role
  5. Select a competency
  6. Select the Behaviors link
  7. Enter the name > Create
