3316048 - Different behavior in the search for inactive and active users in job entities - Employee Central

Symptom

While looking for an inactive user in job relationships or in the manager field in job information, the behavior is different depending if the user we are trying to change the information is active or not.

Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.

Environment

SAP Success Factors Employee Central

Reproducing the Issue

In an Inactive Employee Profile:

  1. Go to Job Relationships portlet;
  2. Add new;
  3. When searching for an inactive user, Inactive employees are shown in the drop down list.

In an Active Employee Profile:

  1. Go to Job Relationships portlet;
  2. Add new;
  3. When searching for an inactive user, Inactive employees are not shown in the drop down list

Cause

This is expected behavior.

Resolution

For active users, inactive ones won't show in job relationships or job information, because you cannot select an inactive user as manager for an active user. If both users are inactive, then the system does not check the status of the employee, so inactive users are also shown.
