3316092 - The full value of a data cell is not displayed although Adaptive Column Width is enabled in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

The following behavior occurs in SAP Analytics Cloud for Planning (SAC):

• Adaptive Column Width is enabled in the table designer.
• However, for some cell with large numbers, the value is not fully displayed. For example, the full value is 123456789.1234. The displayed value is 123...
• This issue is related to the screen size. For example, if you use a big monitor, the values are fully displayed; If you use a laptop, the values are not completely shown.

• SAP Analytics Cloud (Enterprise)

1. Open a story with Adaptive Column Width ticked.
2. Check the values in table cells.

This is the currently designed behavior: the initial width of the column is calculated by looking at a sub-set of all texts in a column. During scrolling we currently keep the column widths to avoid the table layout from being changed, even if there are some texts that will be cut off. 

The table shall not change column width during vertical scrolling. In current design only the upper part of the table is taken into account to adapt the column width. When scrolling down more space may be needed to show the full cell content.

The development team decided to work on improving this behavior. However, that will require more work and we cannot provide a timeline at this point.

At the moment, what you can do as a workaround is:

• hover the mouse over the cell where the text is cut-off and you will get a tooltip with the full text
• de-select Adaptive Column Width and manually resize the first column to fit the longest text. This will ensure that the first column stays at this size, and other columns will keep the "adaptive" behavior as well (unless they are resized).
