3317538 - ISQL fails to connect to SAP IQ using SSL TLS 1.2 - SAP IQ

Symptom

ISQL fails to connect to SAP IQ with error:

# isql -UDBA -S<IQ_ENGINE_NAME> -Ppassword
CT-LIBRARY error:
        ct_connect(): network packet layer: internal net library error: Net-Lib protocol driver call to connect two endpoints failed

  • isql version 16.0 SP04 PL02 (one of the latest version when this KBA is written) comes from SAP ASE package
  • SAP IQ 16.1 SP05 SP06
  • isql is using SSL, the configuration in interfaces files:
    IQ_ENGINE_NAME
            query tcp ether <IQ_hostname> 5000 ssl
