Symptom
A Sales Order is updated frequently and therefore constantly locked.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to the Sales Orders work center.
- Select the Sales Orders view.
- Open Sales Order XYZ (XYZ represents the Sales Order ID).
- Navigate to the Changes tab.
You can see a large amount of changes that look like the changes from the Confirmation Update Run but the Run is not scheduled as frequently as the changes in the Changes tab.
Cause
An Extension Field (KUT or PDI) is modified via a PDI solution on the Sales Order. This triggers a process message to update the Customer Demand which in turn will trigger a process message back from the Customer Demand to the Sales Order. If this update to the Sales Order then triggers the PDI modification again as per the Add-On logic, the system will go into an endless loop constantly updating the Sales Order and therefore locking the Sales Order.
You can check which Extension Field is responsible in the Changes tab of the Sales Order.
Resolution
In order to solve the issue you need to contact the Author of the Add-On to check and correct the Add-On logic.
