Symptom
You receive an error message when you are adding a new time recording as "Times with time types Actual Hours Worked and Allocated working time collide on DD.MM.YYYY ".
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Time Administration work center.
- Go to Employees view.
- Search for the Employee XYZ in edit mode and navigate to Employee Times.
- Search and select the required DD.MM.YYYY, you can observe that there is no Time Recording from HH:MM to HH1:MM1.
- Select Add a new row for the same date DD.MM.YYYY for the time HH2:MM2 and Activate it.
- You receive an error as "Times with time types Actual Hours Worked and Allocated working time collide on DD.MM.YYYY ".
- Now navigate to Personal Administration work center.
- Go to Analytical Reports.
- Open the Report Employee Times and you can observe that there is a time record from HH:MM to HH1:MM1.
Cause
The possible causes are as below:
Time recording for employee XYZ was created on date DD.MM.YYYY from HH:MM to HH1:MM1 were the Time Recording is in Active status and the Approval is not necessary. If this record is modified then this time recording would not be released, and the changes would have been saved, which creates a time entry with Inactive status and the approval status is not yet started.
There could be an existing collision rule against Time Type ABC which will not allow the system to book productive hours in case of any active time recording already existing during that duration. Hence when the employee is trying to book a time recording using Time administration UI for the date DD.MM.YYYY for the time HH:MM to HH1:MM1 the system ends up in showing an error
Resolution
In order to book the time on DD.MM.YYYY for the time HH2:MM2 the employee needs to take action on the time recording with pending changes as above. This time recording needs to be in active status. Post this the time recording can be done for the required date.
In case the user prefers to "Discard the changes" for the time recording, they cannot create a new time entry from HH2:MM2 on DD.MM.YYYY because of the existing collision rule.
