Symptom
When running the checks for Job Profile Builder application in Admin Center > Check Tool, issue(s) for the check "CompetencyMigrationFailuresCheck" can be found.
Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Job Profile Builder
Cause
- The same competency name is used in multiple languages.
- Translations exist for disabled language packs.
Resolution
The same competency name is used in multiple languages
Part 1: Customer
In the check tool, export the file of the affected competencies and provide it to your Certified Partner for the next steps.
As a customer, you do not have access to Provisioning. Please reach out to your Certified Partner to make the corrections. If you don't have a Certified Partner, you can look for one using 2149831 - SAP Professional Services / SAP Certified Partner / SAP Account Management Team [SuccessFactors Cloud].
Part 2: Certified Partner
- Log in to Provisioning
- Select the Company Name
- Select Company Settings
- Scroll down to the very bottom of the screen to the Library Name section
- Locate the library name from the CSV file and identify the language the library was created in. For example, the below library was created in French:
- Select Ctrl+F to locate the Default Language dropdown
- Change the Default Language dropdown to the language the library was created in (i.e., French) > Save Default Language
- Enter the Company Id > Confirm
- Scroll to the top of the page and select the Company Name link in the upper left corner
- Navigate to Managing Competencies and Skills > Competency Libraries
- Select the library name
- Locate the competency and click the text in the Locales column:
- For each locale with the same label, update the name so each is unique.
- Note: Avoid using HTML or special characters or the migration will fail.
For example, if you have 3 locales with a label of Works Well with Others, some examples of changes could be:
-
- Add a . (period) at the end: Works Well with Others.
- Add the 2 character identifier of the language: Works Well with Others_GB
The goal is to have each label be unique. Once each label is unique, run the check tool again to ensure all errors have been corrected before proceeding with the migration.
Translations exist for disabled language packs
If a language pack is disabled, but competency translations were entered for that language, the system will flag the competencies with the "CompetencyMigrationFailuresCheck" check. If competency or behavior translations were previously maintained in a language that is currently disabled in the system, the translation records remain stored in the database. This ensures translations are preserved if the language is re-enabled in the future to prevent data loss and rework. When a language pack is disabled, the system cannot process or migrate the corresponding translation data because the language is not active in the instance.
You can take one of the following actions to resolve the issue:
- (Can be done from the front end) Enable the affected language packs. You can then migrate and disable the language packs after successful migration.
- (Requires Certified Partner engagement) Export the competencies from the check tool and provide them to your Certified Partner. They can log into Provisioning and remove the translations for the affected competencies.
