Symptom

When a file is selected as an attachment to be uploaded in some SAP web application the following pop-up message appears:

"Filter "*.*|" has an invalid format. You are referred to SAP Note 991104 for the correct formats."

Environment

The issue generally occurs in the SAP GUI for HTML (WebGUI) environment and Fiori Launchpad Applications, but it is not limited to them.
