3324302 - No Gateway from Archive to R/3 in SAP Archiving and Document Access by OpenText

Symptom

In Archive Server, when you try to establish a Gateway connection to your R/3 System (Rel. 4.6C) in the archive administration, a info-message tells you, e.g. "There is currently no gateway running from ntsv36 to R/3 VSP", where ntsv36 is the name of your archive server and VSP the SID of your R/3. If you do the customizing for the R/3-System in the archive administration and try to test the connection the error message appears, "No suitable gateway available for access from client 115.200.2.36 to R/3 VSP"'.

If you look at all the running processes no rfcVSP process is running and the 66rfc.servtab file contains no executable data. The archive monitor tells you under "RFC Server(s)' for 'RFC Server for R/3 VSP' that the 'rfcVSP was not started from spawner. On your R/3-System side you did all the customizing in the TA SM59 but because of no running rfrVSP service you can't get a connection. You tried also to manually start the rfcVSP process on your archive server. Doing this you got a connection from R/3 to the archive server, although the archive administration displays the same messages as described above.
