3324386 - Manage Languates tool is not interpreting HTML tags

Symptom

I added HTML tags to change the default text of a label key in my SuccessFactors instance using the Manage Languages tool, but the HTML tags are not being interpreted consistently across the system.

For example, I added the <b> tag to make my text bold. In some pages, the text is displayed as:

  • My Text

But in other pages, the HTML tag is displayed with the text instead of being interpreted:

  • <b>My Text</b>

Environment

SAP SucessFactors HXM Suite

Cause

HTML tags are not supported by the Manage Languages tool.

The Manage Languages tool should be used to customize the text when the default value of UI text when you want it to better reflect your particular business practices and culture or if there is an issue with system text (e.g., grammar, syntax, key terms). Manage Languages allows for a quicker turnaround while waiting for the system text to be updated in a subsequent patch or release.

There may be label keys that when updated to include HTML tags can display the result you desire. This happens because the UI framework of different pages in the system will have their own logics to decide how to interpret the HTML tags.

Resolution

Do not use HTML tags in your custom text strings when using the Manage Languages tool.

The product needs to be enhanced to fully support the usage of HTML tags within the customized text value added using the Manage Languages tool. An idea can be submitted to the Product Management team if this is a needed functionality:
