3325274 - Changing the description of Text Types for Sales Documents

You want to have a different description for Text Type in your sales documents.

Once you change the Text Type description you will receive a message no. SV117.

This refers to the following customization in Sales Area application - Text Determination: Define Text Types for Sales Texts in Customer Master, Define Text Types for SD Document Header, Define Text Types for SD Document Item, Define Text Types for Customer Material.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud

1. Change standard Description for text ID 0001 in customizing Define Text Types for SD Document Header:

3. You are not allowed to change the Description for standard Text Types managed by SAP.

This check falls under SAP's namespace and thus you will not be allowed to change the Text Types description in the SAP's namespace. This is because if values are changed in the SAP namespace, they will be overwritten in subsequent upgrades or release change.

If the customization is required for Text Type description, you can consider creating your custom entry by copying a standard entry into the customer namespace.

In this way, the customized Text Type description will be protected during system upgrade and will still work in the future.
