Symptom

Warning/Error occurs on save of Time Account Type with Accrual Recalculation Posting Method as "Classic": "You cannot use the Accrual Posting Method "Classic" as this is planned to be deprecated in future. Please use the "No Recalculation Postings" posting method instead"

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central - Time Off

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to Manage Data/Manage Time Off Structures -> Create New Time Account Type(or edit existing Time Account Type)
  2. Set Accrual Recalculation Posting Method as "Classic" (Fill all other required fields).
  3. Save. Error/Warning message occurs: "You cannot use the Accrual Posting Method "Classic" as this is planned to be deprecated in future. Please use the "No Recalculation Postings" posting method instead"

Cause

This is a new validation introduced from 1H 2023 release.

Resolution

  • A validation check is added with the 1H 2023 release to not allow saving a Time Account Type with the Accrual Recalculation Posting Method 'Classic'. Refer TIM-35656 in What's New Viewer
  • When a new Time Account Type is created with Accrual Recalculation Posting Method as "Classic" (or an existing Time Account Type's Accrual Recalculation Posting Method is changed to Classic), an error message occurs: "You cannot use the Accrual Posting Method "Classic" as this is planned to be deprecated in future. Please use the "No Recalculation Postings" posting method instead"
  • When a existing Time Account Type with Accrual Recalculation Posting Method 'Classic' is modified, a warning message occurs: "You cannot use the Accrual Posting Method "Classic" as this is planned to be deprecated in future. Please use the "No Recalculation Postings" posting method instead".

Note:

  • The Accrual Recalculation Posting Method "Classic" is planned to be deprecated by 1H 2025 release. Refer TIM-35667 in What's New Viewer
  • The Accrual Recalculation Posting Method "Classic" will be removed from the Time Account Type with the 1H 2024 release and all Time Account Types will be migrated to "No Recalculation Postings."
  • Reason for the change is because No Recalculation Postings has these advantages over the Classic accrual recalculation posting method:

    • Less data volume, especially for daily accruals.

    • There are no longer any issues if you have duplicate accruals. If you use the No Recalculation Postings method, duplicate accrual postings are cleaned up automatically.

    • If the accrual posting method is changed during recalculation, the date change is considered as well. The Classic method only considers quantity changes.
