3326669 - Excel opens with Analysis for Office enabled, even when LoadBehavior is set to 0

Symptom

You are using Analysis for Office (AO) with LoadBehavior set to 0. This means Excel opens without AO by default. You observe that when AO is running and you open a separate Excel Window after that, AO is also enabled there.

Environment

Analysis for Office all versions

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Set LoadBehavior to 0 in the registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins\SapExcelAddIn.
  2. Start AO either from the start menu "Analysis for Microsoft Excel" or with BiOfficelauncher.exe or enable it manually in an Excel session in
  3. File/Options/Add-ins.
  4. Start regular Excel.
  5. Observe AO is enabled in this second Excel window.

Cause

A new Excel session is always a new window. But not every new Excel window is a new session.
In this case Excel is not using a new session when you start it after AO is running.

Resolution

If AO is opened once, you have to force Excel to a new session to not have AO.

  1. Go to regedit: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Excel\Options
  2. Create a new DWORD value: DisableMergeInstance
  3. set the value to 1.
