Symptom

  • When you create an EPM add-in connection, an error occurs: There is a problem with the XML that was received from the network. See inner exception for more details. Encountered unexpected character '<'.
  • There is no issue if you login with SSO (Web Authentication Protocol).
  • EPM add-in connection URL is correct, http(s)://<server>:<port>/sap/bpc.
  • The error occurs before you fill in user and password in the EPM Add-in connection creation dialog.
