Symptom
When referring new candidates through the Employee Referral Program (Go to the Internal Career Site > Search for Jobs > Refer a Friend > Add details of a new candidate and submit the referral), sometimes the candidate profiles are being created before the referral, even though the new candidates were created at the same time as the referral. The issue happens only sometimes and can be noticed when running reports on the timestamp of the Candidate Profile creation versus the Referral Creation.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Management
Reproducing the Issue
How to find out the difference in timestamp between the Candidate Profile creation and the Referral creation:
- Start creating a new report
- Select “Candidate ID” and “Created Date (Timestamp)” from the Candidate table as columns
- Filter by the Candidate IDs
- Click on Preview
- Duplicate the tab and create a second report to get the creation date of the Referrals
- Go to the “Referral linked on Job Requisition” and select “Created Date (Timestamp)” and “Referred Candidate ID” as columns
- Filter by your Referred Candidate IDs by using the filter “Referred Candidate ID” from the “Referral linked on Job Requisition” table
- Click on Preview
- Compare the Created Date (Timestamp) values of the 2 reports. They should be the same for each candidate, meaning that the Created Date (Timestamp) of the Candidate Profile should be the same as the Created Date (Timestamp) of the Referral, but sometimes we see a difference of 1 second
Cause
The difference noted in the seconds component is because the transaction takes a second or two to complete and the candidate is inserted in the table in the Data Base before the referral is inserted.
Resolution
Engineering have confirmed that 2 seconds should be the max time taken, in order for the transactions to complete.
