3329394 - Portal fails to log into the repository after XML configuration files were edited - SAP PD

Symptom

  • PD Web does not start up after the repository.xml file was customized to target another server/database.
  • Multiple copies of web.xml were also customized.
  • File portalserver16-stderr reports the following error:
       SEVERE [localhost-startStop-1] org.apache.tomcat.util.descriptor.web.WebXmlParser.parseWebXml Parse error in application web.xml file at [file:/C:/Program%20Files/SAP/PowerDesigner%20Portal%2016/Tomcat/conf/web.xml]
           org.xml.sax.SAXParseException; systemId: file:/C:/Program%20Files/SAP/PowerDesigner%20Portal%2016/Tomcat/conf/web.xml; lineNumber: 4735; columnNumber: 25; The element type "http-method" must be terminated by the matching end-tag "</http-method>".
