3329853 - Item/Class prerequisites/Approval program behaviour

Symptom

Prior to 1H2026 release, item or class prerequisites/approval setting are not respected when the item/class is added to a program. For example, a user can register for a class even though it was not met the prerequisites for the class.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Learning

Resolution

Prior to 1H2026 release, when an item/class has prerequisites or requires approval and it is a part of the program assigned to the learner, then the program bypasses the prerequisites/approval. It allows the assignment/registration of the learner into the item/class.

As of 1H2026 release, the behavior has changed - 2 properties are added under LMS_ADMIN to control the behavior:

  • honorPrerequisitesForPrograms=
  • honorApprovalsForPrograms=

By default, these are set to false and the program bypasses the item prerequisites/approval.

Admins can set the properties to true so users need to complete the prerequisites or follow the approval process at item level.
