3329857 - Error: “An entry is required in field 'City'” While Saving the Changes to Business Partner

Your business does not require to add the City in the address of the Business Partner. Upon trying to save a Business Partner without the City information, the system throws the error: 

An entry is required in field 'City'

1. Go to the app Maintain Business Partner
2. Find and open the Business Partner ID
3. Switch Between Display and Change
4. Change in BP role: Business Partner (Gen.)
5. Make the required changes
6. Save
7. System throws the error

Technical inconsistencies in the backend.

In the Maintain Business Partner app, the City field will be made as non-mandatory with the 2308CE release which is tentatively scheduled in August 2023.

As a workaround, to maintain the address of the Business Partner without a City, use the Business Partner Fiori apps like Manage Business Partner Master Data, Manage Customer Master Data and Manage Supplier Master Data, as the City field is not mandatory here. In case you use the Maintain Business Partner app, then for all the addresses that exist in the Business Partner, double-click each of the addresses in the Address Overview tab and maintain the City data.
