3330311 - Using special characters for solution design

Symptom

All special characters except Dot (.), Underscore (_), Curly Single Quote  (‘) and Curly Double Quote (“)  are not considered in Solution Design. 

Environment

SAP CPQ

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a quote;
  2. Go to tab solution design;
  3. Select section builder;
  4. Add a section;
  5. Use special characters for section label;
  6. You will get the error message "Section name can't contain any special character except the underscore (_)".

Cause

Only Dot (.), Underscore (_), Curly Single Quote  (‘) and Curly Double Quote (“) are allowed special characters.

It is important to note single (') and double quotes (") is not possible to be used because it causes syntax error in JavaScript, as they are defined as delimiters.

Resolution

This is expected behavior of the application, nonetheless, if you require additional special characters, please submit a case with SAP CPQ Support Team for further analysis whether it could be included or not.
