3330982 - How to archive ASE audit data from sybsecurity database - SAP ASE for Business Suite

Symptom

You would like to archive audit data from sybsecurity database to another database.

  • During the system installation using SWPM 1.0 SP26 PL0 and above, the SAP installer offers to create the optional database sybsecurityarchive for audit record archiving. You may want the SAP installer to establish a threshold procedure to automatically move audit events to the sybsecurityarchive database. See SAP Note 3151446 - SYB: Implementation of database auditing for SAP NetWeaver

If your system has already been installed with a SWPM version >= 1.0 SP26 PL0, refer to these notes to set up the audit archiving:

  • Implement ASE threshold procedure "sapinst_audit_thresh_bck", which automatically moves audit events to the sybsecurityarchive database.
    • For this procedure and further suggestions to modify/improve audit setup, see SAP Note 2742692 - "SYB: Filter ASE audit records before archiving".
  • Establish a threshold procedure to automatically move audit events to the sybsecurityarchive database
    • Procedure described in SAP Note 2717834 - SYB: Discretionary Access Control configuration options offered by SWPM
  • You may also consider to export audit data to a file.  Please refer to SAP Note 2742711 - "SYB: Spool audit events into file in the file system"
