Symptom

While executing job Year-End Closing Asset Accounting (Cross-Company Code and Ledger) the following warning message is displayed: 'The last closed fiscal year YYYY is the same as the current fiscal year YYYY' FAA_CMP079.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Cause

The selected fiscal year in the job parameters is the same as the highest fiscal year.

It will lead to a situation where no open fiscal year exists on the company code, however it can opened anytime via job Balance Carryforward.

From technical perspective there is no issue closing every fiscal year on a company code, but it will not be possible to operate further until the next fiscal year is not opened.

Resolution

Standard system design, system works as designed.
