By default, most documents are automatically assigned to a predefined category. If you want to categorize documents differently for Metadata Framework (MDF) objects having standard and custom attachment fields, you can create a custom document category and associate it with the attachment field on the MDF object.

Follow below steps:

Configuring Attachment Fields for Document Categories

1. Go to Admin Center and search for "Manage Data"
2. Choose the "Create New" dropdown
3. Select "Attachment Field Configuration"

Enter the following:

• Object Type: <MDF object> See the examples in the Context.
• Attachment Field: <field> A list of all fields is shown that are available for the selected object. Select the field from that list for your defined category.
• Entity ID: <ID> Select the key field for this object.
• Attachment Category: <category> Select a category from the list.
• Module: <module> Select a module from the list.

Use the Module value ALL only for documents that are intended to be company documents. Company documents can be viewed by all users under the View Company Documents tile on the Home Page.

After that, upload attachments.

NOTE: Custom Document Categories created and associated to attachment fields are only applied to documents uploaded after this configuration is completed.

Choose corresponding Entity Type and Document category to filter this custom MDF attachment in manage documents

Creating a Custom Document Category

If you want to export all custom MDF attachments in one folder or classify into different categories, you can create a customized category in Manage Documents to put all custom MDF attachments in it or create different types of customized category to store different custom MDF attachments.
