Symptom
Custom Table cannot be uploaded with Excel sheet entries.
Error is "Column name can't contain illegal characters.".
Environment
SAP SALES CLOUD CPQ
Reproducing the Issue
- Login to CPQ
- Setup
- Custom tables
- Search for a table
- Click on View entries
- Click on Import Entries
- Choose an Excel file
- Save
- We get error.
Cause
As per the help documentation Custom Tables | SAP Help Portal, the column names must be unique, and can contain only alphanumerics and can’t start with a numeric.
So we see the error about illegal characters only if the column name begins with a numeric or a special character.
Resolution
Renaming the column name to begin with an alphabet instead of a number will resolve the issue.
