Symptom

Error is "Column name can't contain illegal characters.".

Environment

SAP SALES CLOUD CPQ

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Login to CPQ
  2. Setup
  3. Custom tables
  4. Search for a table
  5. Click on View entries
  6. Click on Import Entries
  7. Choose an Excel file
  8. Save
  9. We get error.

Cause

As per the help documentation Custom Tables | SAP Help Portal, the column names must be unique, and can contain only alphanumerics and can’t start with a numeric

So we see the error about illegal characters only if the column name begins with a numeric or a special character.

Resolution

Renaming the column name to begin with an alphabet instead of a number will resolve the issue.
