Symptom

- When upgrading the SAP system with Software Update Manager (SUM), during the configuration step REV_PRPINSTALL/SHDUNINST_DB_REV, you encounter the following errors:

Severe error(s) occurred in phase REV_PRPINSTALL/SHDUNINST_DB_REV!Last error code set:Process Drive:\usr\sap\<SID>\SUM\abap\bin/SAPuptool exited with 20, see'Drive:\usr\sap\<SID>\SUM\abap\log\SQLSTMTSTD.OUT' for details

- MSSDROPSHD.LOG shows the following error message:

1EETQ008 Error message: DBSL error 99 (db code 229):
1EETQ009XThe SELECT permission was denied on the object 'database_principals',
1EETQ009Xdatabase 'mssqlsystemresource', schema 'sys'.
1EETQ003 exit code: "20"
4 ETQ399 Rollback.
