3336750 - Indexserver memory pressure due to high nameserver memory utilization

Symptom

  • The system performance is degraded due to reclaims and columnstore unloads
  • Further checking the indexserver memory utilization however indicates that indexserver memory consumption is not close to the GAL (global allocation limit). This can for example be verified via the indexserver rtedumps:

    [4] PID=128345 (state=R), SId=4170500395, compactors active, alive, W=100, process name: hdbindexserver
        AB=105.01gb (112761049088b), UA=0b, U=90.09gb (96744749678b),...

    GLOBAL_MAX_ALLOCATION_LIMIT=228.33gb (245169446912b)

  • In the same rtedump, the nameserver process shows an usually high memory usage:

    [0] PID=127957 (state=S), SId=4170500391, compactors active, alive, W=100, process name: hdbnameserver
        AB=112.45gb (120746463232b), UA=0b, U=102.34gb (109895195096b),...
