3339645 - SAP Service SAP<SID>_<inst. nr> fails to start: Error 5 EIO*: Input/output error OR: Access is denied.

Symptom

Windows Dialog instance  on  DB2/400  or IBM iSeries  does not start  because SAP Service  SAP<SID>_<inst. nr.> can not be started:

1- When starting a SAP Windows service (name = SAP<SID>_<inst.nr.>) it terminates immediately  with the following message:

Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly

2-  An error in event viewer application log can be found for source  SAP<SID>_<inst.nr> similar to this:

Log Name:      Application
Source:        SAP???_??
.....
 
   Cannot open Profile \\<IBM  server>\sapmnt\<SID>\SYS\profile\<SID>_Dnn_<Windows_server>. (Error 5 EIO*: Input/output error OR: Access is denied.)
