Symptom
After doing a job info import that has multiple sequence rows on same event date (multiple effective dated changes on same date in job info); the import works fine and creates 2 new entrees in job information of the employee, but the import is triggering hierarchy adaption on both sequence rows and the 2ns sequence is putting old manager from the effective date job info entry before import
Environment
- SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central
- Position Management
Reproducing the Issue
- Create job info import file (Make sure this import file will have multiple seq-number for same user on same event date and also changes position).
- Import this file (it will import fine).
- Check job info history of user and note that it indeed has 2 new effective dated entrees on the date. First entry in fine, but sequence entry we can see that it reverts the manager back to what the manager was before import.
Cause
Engineering confirmed and indeed have deemed this as a limitation in the current product in regards of how position management hierarchy adaption is triggered when doing job information imports using sequence numbers doing multiple changes on same effective date.
Resolution
- This is a gap in the current legacy code and engineering is not able to fix this limitation.
- This however is targeted to be changed as an enhancement in future release when job imports are included in the new centralized services going forward.
Workaround:
To circumvent this limitation, one of the following 2 workarounds can be done:
- Import the records in separate import files
- Adding the correct supervisor to the respective import records.
