3340828 - System - Status menu shows different operating system version from the actual server

Symptom

Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.

The "Kernel Information" section of the System -> Status -> Other Kernel Information menu shows a different OS version from what the system is running on.

For example, it shows SLES 11:

While the system is running on RHEL 7:
