3342333 - How to bulk change user license type from Business Intelligence Named License to BI Concurrent Session license in SAP Analytics Cloud(SAC) and vice versa

Symptom

You need to update a large amount of users to from the Business Intelligence Named License type to BI Concurrent Session License and vice versa. 

Environment

  • SAP Analytics Cloud
  • Concurrent License contract

Resolution

To change users from Business Intelligence Named licenses to Concurrent Licenses 

  1. Go to SAC - Security - Users.
  2. Export all the users to sac.csv file and backup it well.
  3. Open the sac.csv file, remove the non-impacted users whose licenses are not required to change.
  4. Navigate to the column which is "IS_CONCURRENT".
  5. Currently the impacted users' value should be "0".
  6. Update from "0" to "1".
  7. Save the csv file and then import to SAC - Security - Users.
  8. We can see the licenses are updated to expected Concurrent BI already.

To change users from Concurrent Licenses to Business Intelligence Named licenses:

  1. Go to SAC - Security - Users.
  2. Export all the users to sac.csv file and backup it well.
  3. Open the sac.csv file, remove the non-impacted users whose licenses are not required to change.
  4. Navigate to the column which is "IS_CONCURRENT".
  5. Currently the impacted users' value should be "1".
  6. Update from "1" to "0".
  7. Save the csv file and then import to SAC - Security - Users.
  8. We can see the licenses are updated to expected Business Intelligence Named License type
