3342427 - Signal 11 with stack including des_clean - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • When running alter table command that affects table partition
    • This is most likely command to trigger issue, but it is not limited just to this specific command
    • A typical example would be:

      alter table <table_name> drop partition <partition_name> with online

  • ASE log reports a signal 11 with a stack trace that includes function des_clean and slm_v12_5_free_slgroup
  • As a result, the 'alter table' process may hang

  • ASE log entries include

    Current process (0x4e2b19bf) infected with signal 11 (SIGSEGV)
    Address 0x0x0000000000a7a79e (slm_v12_5_free_slgroup+0x19) ...

    with a stack trace including functions

    slm_v12_5_free_slgroup
    des__clean
    des_objdrop
    des__recreate
    des_do_get
