3343422 - Web-based transactions are getting "site is not secure" when invoking the browser with Edge (based on Chromium) HTML control in SAP GUI for Windows

Symptom

  • When opening a web-based transaction (SPRO, NWBC, SOAMANAGER, WEBGUI, and so on), SAP GUI for Windows prompts an Edge browser flagged as "site is not secure" ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR. 
  • All certificates have been verified in STRUST transaction.
  • The issue no longer persists if the HTML browser control is set to Internet explorer.
