3343775 - User-Dependent Phrase Updates in Object: Ensuring Consistency for New and Existing Records

Symptom

  • Default values displayed in workflow request are not in line with the ones configured in "configure object definition"
  • Default value has been changed over time and somehow the system continues to carry the old values
  • "Default values" are showing the old value for users that have previous records created
  • When a user who never had a record generates a new one, "Default Values" shows correctly

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors HXM Suite

Reproducing the Issue

  1. The object has three fields that are marked as read-only. This means that users cannot directly modify the values in these fields.
  2. Initially, a default phrase was set to appear in these read-only fields. This default phrase serves as a placeholder or initial value.
  3. When records were created for certain users, the default phrase was generated in the object for those fields.
  4. Now, if the user decides to change the phrase in the object, this new phrase will only appear for users who did not have any records created yet. In other words, if a user had existing records before the change, the old phrase will still be displayed for them.

Resolution

This behavior is expected because records that have already been created will retain the information that was initially entered into them. Even if the user creates a new record, the old phrase will appear as it is associated with the first record that was created.
