Why do I receive the error message ' Document could not be exported. The system was unable to export the document.' when attempting to export a BPMN 2.0 xml file?

SAP Signavio Process Manager 3.0

1. Open Explorer
2. Select a process
3. In the menu, press Import/Export
4. In the dropdown, select Export as BPMN 2.0 XML.
5. See that its fails and you see an error.

You are receiving this error as the diagrams you are exporting have been linked to each other as sub processes and this is not compliant with the BPMN 2.0 standard.

 You will be able to export the processes without issue if you remove the sub process links.
