3346493 - Error Serial Number Recording is Forbidden for Product XYZ & SERIALABC

For Product XYZ(where XYZ is the Product ID) the serial number profile is set to Optional.

During Confirmation of Put Away task when you key in the serial number SERIALABC(where SERIALABC is the serial number ID/registered product) you will encounter the following error

Serial Number Recording is Forbidden for Product  XYZ & SERIALABC.

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to Inbound Logistics workcenter and Task Control view

2. Find Task ID 999(where 999 is the Task Id) and Confirm

3. Go to Line Items tab

you can see that Serial Number Recording is Forbidden for Product  XYZ & SERIALABC.

As per the Logistic Model used in the Warehouse Request, Logistics Area Proposal is When task is created.
Since the Logistics Model says the Destination Logistics Area proposal should happen at the time of task creation,
confirmation Quantity Proposal is enabled.

Therefore system proposes the Destination Logistics Areas as per the Material Flow Rules maintained and further quantity is proposed.
Now in general for an optional serial number profile product, if quantity is entered, you cannot enter serial numbers.

As per the Material Flow Rules maintained it has proposed quantities therefore serial number recording is marked as forbidden.

System is behaving as expected.
