Symptom
Sales Order XYZ(where XYZ is the Sales Order ID) is in Completed status and also the related Outbound Delivery ABC(where ABC is the Outbound Delivery ID) is Released and invoiced.
However you notice that the Outbound Delivery ABC is In-Transit.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
1)Go to Third-Party Logistics workcenter
2)Under Common Tasks view, select View Intercompany In-Transit Deliveries sub-view.
3)Search for Outbound Delivery ID ABC
The details are being displayed.
Cause
Outbound Delivery ABC is stuck in transit as both buyer and Sender in Sales Order XYZ are maintained as company meaning this is in Intercompany scenario.
Here in intercompany scenario first Purchase order need to be created first and on purchase order release sales order is created.
However, in this scenario we find the sales order XYZ but there is no Purchase order. So, when the outbound delivery ABC is released Inbound Delivery Notification is not created, as for IDN, purchase order reference is required.
Therefore, messages are stuck in backend and cannot be processed.
Resolution
Thus, to have a complete intercompany process, First Purchase order is created, then sales order, then Outbound delivery, then Inbound delivery notification after that Inbound delivery. The document flow will be PO -> SO -> OD -> IDN -> CID.
In this scenario, outbound delivery ABC need to be cancelled and all the other documents up to sales order XYZ need to be cancelled .
New intercompany purchase order need to be created and we have to follow the correct process for intercompany scenario.
