Symptom
When a user creates a new Story and expands a schema under ‘Available Data’, a message ‘Could not get metadata’ is displayed. This happens for schemas like ‘Performance Management’, ‘Goal Management’, ‘Learning Activities’, ‘Compensation Planning’ etcetera.

Reproducing the Issue
- Navigate to Report Center
- Create a new Story
- Expand one of these schemas
- ‘Performance Management’, ‘Goal Management’, ‘Learning Activities’, ‘Compensation Planning’ etcetera.
- You will notice error ‘Could not get metadata’
Looks like an error occurred in loading the metadata. For assistance, please contact your administrator or the SAP Product Support team, if needed
Cause
This represents that the user creating Story does not have ‘Data Access: Story’ permission under for that domain/schema.
Resolution
You have to grant permission ‘Data Access: Story’ for the particular domain/schema.
