3349765 - Error 11060 when using 'set readonly' in a stored procedure - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • A stored procedure is executed which contains the following results in an error 11060 State 1.
    • set readonly off
    • perform DML/DDL
    • set readonly on
    • perform a select (non-DML/non-DDL)
  • The error along with the following message text is returned to the session:
    This statement has exceeded the maximum number of recompilations (20). This indicates an internal error. Please note the error prior to this one and contact SAP Technical Support.
