3351133 - "You do not have permission to edit the value. Please contact your system administrator" error while editing address - Employee Central

Error message "You do not have permission to edit the value. Please contact your system administrator" is occurring while saving a new address added via Validate Address option. Error only occurs when there are onChange rules assigned to the address fields.

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central

1. Go to the profile of an employee and access the Address Information portlet
2. Click to edit and add a zip code
3. Click on 'Validate Address' to get the address information
4. Select the address suggested and complete it
5. Click on Save
6. Error "You do not have permission to edit the value. Please contact your system administrator" is displayed

Enigneering Team have confirmed that currently it's a product gap. The issue occurs when there is an onchange rule in Home Address portlet and Address Validation for the country is enabled. 

Engineering Team are planning to enhance the product in 1H 2024 so that this issue does not occur, however the fix version is not yet confirmed. This KBA will be updatde when we have more details regarding the fix. In the meantime, you may contact SAP hotline number or your CSM to know status of the enhancement number ECT-207831. 

Workaround: You can employ any of the following 3 workarounds to unblock the transaction until the enhancement is deployed:

Workaround 1: Move the onChange rule to onSave in Home Address portlet.

Workaround 2: If Workaround 1 is not feasible due to business restrictions, disable Address Validation for the country for which you're adding address.

Workaround 3: If both the above workarounds are not feasible, please make a dummy change on the field where onChange rule is added. Make a dummy change on the field > Click outside of the field so that the onChange rule is triggered > Undo the dummy change > Save. The record should get saved successfully. Please note that in some scenarios, this workaround may not work.
