3352572 - Error Message: 'Error for Account 123 in Chart of Accounts XYZ and acct det. profile PQR' while Changing the G/L Account Type

You are unable to change the G/L Account Type due to below error message.

Error for Account 123 in Chart of Accounts XYZ and acct det. profile PQR:
Account type DEF of acct 123 does not match usage in account determination.
Save failed

(Here 123 refers G/L account)

(XYZ refers Charts Accounts id)

(DEF refers to G/L Account Type)

(PQR refers Account Determination Profile)

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to the Business Configuration work center.
2. Click on Overview.
3. Search for the Fine tune activity - Charts of Accounts, Financial Reporting Structures, Account Determination.
4. Click on Change Immediately. 
5. Go to the Edit Chart of Accounts view. 
6. Select the Chart of Accounts view and try to change the G/L Account Type DEF. 
7. Click Save. 

Error Message shown:

Error for Account 123 in Chart of Accounts XYZ and acct det. profile PQR:
Account type DEF of acct 123 does not match usage in account determination.
Save failed

The error is due to G/L account is assigned under the Account determination. You cannot change the G/L account Type if the G/L account is still assigned under Chart of Accounts > Account determination.

You first need to check in which account determination the G/L account is being used.

Steps to follow:

1. Go to General Ledger work center
2. Go to General Ledger Accounts view.
3. Find the respective G/L Account and click Edit > Chart of Accounts
4. Select the respective G/L Account and click Where-Used List button
5. Expand Account Determination and take note of the path.

You need to remove the account from the account determination by following below steps:

1. Go to Business Configuration.
2. Click on Overview.
3. Search for the Fine tune activity - Charts of Accounts, Financial Reporting Structures, Account Determination.
4. Click on Change Immediately. 
5. Open the respective subledger under Account Determination section (e.g. Fixed Assets).
6. Navigate to the respective tab (e.g. Historical Cost) and delete the assignment of the G/L Account with the Account Determination Group.
    
   Once you save the changes you should be able to change the G/L account type.
