3353670 - Not all HANA views are displayed in Analysis Office when connected to BW system and searching for the HANA package

Symptom

The user wants to insert a HANA view in Analysis Office, by connecting to a BW system instead of a HANA system.

After connecting to the BW system, the user searches for the HANA package, but not all HANA views from the package are displayed.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Click to insert a data source in Analysis Office;
  2. Connect to BW system;
  3. Search for the package of the HANA view;
  4. Confirm that the HANA view is missing or that not all HANA views from the package are displayed;

Resolution

  1. Go to transaction RSRTS_ODP_DIS in the BW system;
  2. In "ODP Context", change to "HANA Information Views";
  3. In "ODP Name" field, open the F4 Help;
  4. Sort by "Software Component";
  5. Find the HANA package in the "Software Component" column;
  6. Confirm that the package is missing in the "ODP Description" of some HANA objects.

Analysis for Office tool will show the same objects available in transaction RSRTS_ODP_DIS, so it is necessary to use the right search terms in AO to find the HANA views. If there is a problem in the way the HANA views are displayed in RSRTS_ODP_DIS, open a case to SAP Support by selecting the component BW-BEX-OT-ODP.

About the right search terms to find HANA view in AO, please be aware that:

  • If the length of string <Package>_<View> of a HANA View is shorter than 25 characters, the technical name of the HANA view will start with  "2H"  followed by the technical name of Package and Calculation View. 
    e.g. 2H + Package name + _ + HANA View name
  • If the length of string <Package>_<View> of a HANA View is larger than 25 characters, the technical name of the HANA view will be a system generated string starting with "2H" followed by 25 length Hash string. 
    e.g. 2HNYLCGK29QP1BEOFOJU1X6MS12
