3353707 - Insufficient compiler protection

Symptom

  • It was found that the application loads dynamic link libraries without proper compiler protection.
  • Also,primarily dynamic link libraries from the home directory are used without proper compiler protection.
  • We also noticed that some dynamic link libraries are incompatible with DYNAMICBASE.
  • This means that the
    binaries are not eligible for relocation by Address Space Layout Randomization (ASLR).
  • Moreover, it was identified that some of the libraries used are not marked NX compatible. The NX bit, also
    known as “Data Execution Prevention” (DEP), also known as “Execute Disable” (XD), is a processor feature
    that allows a program to mark a piece of memory as nonexecutable.
