Symptom
- You would like to get the list of objects that are consuming the existing connections in SAC.
- In the RESOURCE model, you see only objects that consume Live Connection.
- You build a Story using this model and note that the details for the objects consuming the Import Connection are missing.
Environment
SAP Analytics Cloud 2023.8.14
Reproducing the Issue
- In SAP Analytics Cloud, create a Story
- Use the Resource Model provided by the application
- Add widgets and Measures and Dimensions to it
- Note that only details of objects consuming Live Connections are shown.
Cause
- For acquired-data models, the connection type is for the data import job, which is a process to feed data into the model or public dimension.
The story does not use Import Connections directly. - In contrast, for remote model that is based on Live Connection, no data can be served to the story if the connection is gone.
The query will be sent to the remote system via the connection at view time.
Resolution
This is the expected behavior by design.
