3356787 - Convert Values in Migration Tool Suggest Incorrect Target Values

You are migrating an object using the migration tool. During the Convert Values step, you are completing a mapping activity for an ID however the target value is suggesting a different ID than the source value populated in the template.

In this KBA we will take as an example the Supplier ID in the migration of Account Determination Groups for Suppliers.

1. Go to Business Configuration work center.
2. Enter the Overview view.
3. Search for activity Migration of Suppliers and open it.
4. Click on Migrate Account Determination Groups Payables Using the Migration Tool.
5. Select the migration template and click on Execute Migration.
6. Click on Step-by-Step.
7. Proceed to the Convert Values step.
8. Click on the task Edit Value Conversion for Supplier ID.

In this list, you can see that some target values for Supplier IDs are not the same as the source values in the template.

The value conversion for the migration tool uses the initial ID mapping for the respective business objects, and is shared across all migrations that use the same property.

In our example for Supplier ID, this means that if the ID was mapped to a different value during the migration of Suppliers, the same target value will be suggested for Supplier IDs in the migration of account determination groups.

The system works as expected.

Following the example of Supplier ID migration, you can check the value mapping for an object by following the below steps:

1. Go to Business Configuration work center.
2. Enter the Overview view.
3. Search for activity Migration of Suppliers and open it.
4. Click on Migrate Suppliers Using the Migration Tool.
5. In the Show dropdown list, select Completed Files.
6. Click on You Can Also.
7. Click on Export Value Conversion to File.

this will download a text file where you can see the value mapping that was used during the initial migration. This value mapping will be used in any other migration that has a value conversion task for Supplier ID.
