3356828 - How to remove data spaces from mixed data and log device - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • A portion of the log device was inadvertently allocated to the mixed data and log segment.
  • The database has only one log device. When attempting to deallocate the data-segment space from the log device using the ALTER DATABASE … OFF command, the following message was returned and the command failed:
    1> alter database test off test_log01
    2> go
    Msg 5054, Level 16, State 1:
    Server 'BSE', Line 1:
    You cannot remove 6400 log pages (100 MB) from database 'test' because the log size is 6400 (100 MB).
