3356903 - Record is not created in Job Relationship when Manager is updated in Job Information via Position Object

Symptom

With Cross Entity Rules, the record is not created in Job Relationship when Manager is updated in Job Information via Position Object.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central - Position Management

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to Manage Position
  2. Search any position and add higher level position
  3. Check the Job Information, the Manager is updated. However, the value is not being updated in Job Relationship Portlet even though the rule trace says otherwise

Resolution

  • This is an expected behavior. The cross entity rules are not supported for hierarchy adaption and while they do trigger, they do not apply.
  • If the transaction was a position to job info sync such rules (but with the cross entity scenario) would be triggered and applied. However, changing the parent position does trigger a hierarchy adaption and not the synchronization.
  • Therefore, the workaround applicable to achieve using the standard feature is by enabling matrix positions.
